Jonathon Russell, MD
Dr. Jon Russell is an Assistant Professor of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgeon and the Director of Endoscopic and Robotic Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery at Johns Hopkins. As such, he manages the broad range of thyroid and parathyroid surgical pathology and specializes in scarless transoral thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy. Furthermore, patient communication, satisfaction, and safety are key areas of interest. He has developed web based tools to improve patient care, and lectures both nationally and internationally on thyroid and parathyroid problems. He was the first surgeon in the Western Hemisphere to manage thyroid cancer through a transoral scarless approach using robotic technology, and continues to be the leader in this innovative technique. He has published the largest Western series of transoral scarless surgeries, and mentored numerous surgeons on the technique. He has served on several committees of national organizations, including the Endocrine Surgery Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
