The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates with a strong history of academic medical leadership, clinical expertise and scholarship to apply for the full-time position of Director (Chief) of the Johns Hopkins Eudowood Division of Neonatology. This position includes the Josephine S. Sutland Endowed Chair of Newborn Medicine. The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center are world-renowned, top-ranked, institutions with faculty that are consistently recognized as leaders in their fields.
The Division of Neonatology currently has 21 full-time clinical faculty, two of whom are also members of the Pediatric Palliative Care team. In addition, there are 2 full-time research faculty, one NICU hospitalist, 10 Neonatal Perinatal Medicine fellows, and two research coordinators. Their work in the Sutland-Pakula Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is supported by 19 advanced practice providers along with neonatology clinical nurses, dieticians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, lactation consultants, social workers and a dedicated NICU chaplain/palliative care specialist. We have specialized programs and centers of excellence, including the Neonatal Precision Medicine Center of Excellence. The Division is also fortunate to have endowment funds to help support faculty research.
The Division of Neonatology encompasses three Johns Hopkins Health System neonatal ICUs, including a 49-bed level 4 NICU in E. Baltimore, a 25-bed level 3 NICU at our Bayview Medical Center, and a 22-bed level 3 nursery at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. We also provide Neonatology coverage at Frederick Health Hospital (FHH).
Qualified candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified in Neonatology. The successful candidate would be an exceptional leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills who has a proven record of accomplishment of excellence in patient care, scholarly achievement, and teaching/mentorship. Candidates should also have experience in health systems integration. Academic appointment will be commensurate with the individual’s experience.
