Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs
Dr. Redonda Miller is senior vice president of medical affairs for The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System. In her role with The Johns Hopkins Hospital, which she assumed in 2009, she leads the functions of the medical staff and serves as the Hospital’s chief medical officer. She provides leadership for programs, including Medical Staff Administration, Pharmacy, Health Information Management, Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control, Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy and Patient Safety. Dr. Miller spearheads institutional efforts to advance patient safety and coordinates activities with the hospital’s chiefs of service in support of quality, service, and operational efficiency.
In her role as senior vice vresident of medical affairs for Johns Hopkins Health System, which she assumed in 2016, Dr. Miller works in collaboration with the Vice Presidents for Medical Affairs and other colleagues across the six hospitals to move forward strategically in areas such as credentialing, medical staff peer review, health information management and formulary processes. Dr. Miller also serves as chair of the Council on Clinical and Quality Issues as well as the Executive Board for the Maryland Hospital Association.
Dr. Miller received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine with election to Alpha Omega Alpha and took her internship and residency on the Osler Medical Service at Johns Hopkins. Before joining the faculty, she was appointed as an Assistant Chief of Service (chief resident). Dr. Miller completed her M.B.A. at Johns Hopkins in 2004, and prior to becoming Vice President for Medical Affairs, she served as Vice Chair for Clinical Operations for the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Miller is an associate professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She has focused her academic career on medical education and women’s health. She lectures widely and writes on mid-life women’s health topics, including osteoporosis and menopause. Dr. Miller is a founding editor of the Johns Hopkins Internal Medicine Board Review book, now in its 5th edition, and the administrative editor for Practical Reviews in Internal Medicine, an audio lecture series. She has published over 35 book chapters and manuscripts. Dr. Miller is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and past treasurer of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Miller has twice been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record. She has also been voted one of Baltimore’s Best Doctors and Baltimore’s Best Doctors for Women by Baltimore Magazine. Most recently, she was honored as one of Becker’s “100 Hospital and Health System CMOs to Know.”
