Case Presentation: Robotic Spinal Decompression and Fusion Surgery

Director of the Johns Hopkins Neurosurgical Spine Center, Nicholas Theodore, discusses surgical treatments options considered for a patient who presented with disabling back pain and spine instability. The patient had undergone lumbar fusion surgery in the past and subsequently developed adjacent level disease above and below it. Robotic spine surgery was ultimately used to work with the older hardware, minimize tissue disruption and reducing the patient’s discomfort and spine instability.
