COVID-19 and Olfactory Dysfunction

Rhinologist, Nicholas Rowan discusses COVID-19 and its unique symptomatology of olfactory dysfunction and anosmia. While upper respiratory infections generally can cause a wide range of nasal symptoms, multiple preliminary studies have demonstrated the importance of anosmia in regard to this peculiar COVID-19 patient symptomatology, but also how this symptom may be a key to tracking COVID-19 spread, better understanding host entry and therapeutic targets, and patient treatment implications.
