Improving Care for Mechanically Ventilated Patients

Sean Berenholtz, M.D., explains the importance of removing patients from mechanical ventilation as soon as safely possible in order to prevent short- and long-term harms. He outlines three groups of interventions to achieve this goal and describes a national quality improvement project that hospitals can join to improve outcomes for ventilated patients. Armstrong is currently recruiting for the project’s last cohort. Hospitals must send their letter of commitment by July 15. For more information, visit the project website.
